These prices are offered due to the highly competitive positioning of the wines and represent exceptional value within the range. They are available strictly on a case basis—either as 6 bottles of still wine plus — from the Wharie Experience. However, flexibility remains for larger purchases, and orders can still be placed as a mixed selection of 12 bottles or more.
If you follow my trails around the globe looking at vineyards and living my best life, you know I love a producer that takes the attention entirely away from traditional constraints and puts it right back on the wine. Swiss oenologist Guillaume Lagger is doing exactly that down on his wife's family farm in Sway, tucked inside the New Forest National Park.
Guillaume’s hands-off, low-intervention philosophy shines right through his bottles. He is heavily championing sustainable, hybrid PIWI (fungus-resistant) vines. If you want to explore new grapes and undiscovered regions, you have to try his spectacular Orion 2022.
The Wine Review
Let's be completely honest: most people have never heard of Orion. It is a lesser-known German hybrid variety born back in 1964 (a cross between Optima and Villard Blanc) that you'll only find in tiny pockets across northern Europe and the UK. The fruit for this specific 2022 vintage was sourced from a unique vineyard plot in Bradford-on-Avon, and Guillaume has coaxed something absolute genius out of it.
Forget the usual, boring white wine descriptions. Pouring this glass unleashes a stunningly pronounced, aromatic army of elderflowers, fresh meadows, honeysuckle, and wild tropical fruit—think peach, mango, and a fun little burst of jelly beans or bubblegum.
On the palate, it’s a revelation. It is beautifully fresh, bright, and effortless. It punches in with a light-to-medium body and a lively, zippy level of high acidity that balances perfectly against its intense flavors. You get notes of waxy apples, citrus zest, and a touch of marmalade. Guillaume kept this clean and honest with incredibly low intervention—bottling it with minimal sulfur to ensure the pure fruit profile takes center stage. It hits a wonderfully light 10% ABV, leaving a long, clean finish. It is wildly drinkable.
