Bollinger is one of Champagne’s most prestigious houses, founded in 1829 in Aÿ.
The founders were Hennequin de Villermont, Paul Renaudin, and Jacques Bollinger.
Family-run from the start, Bollinger became known for rich, Pinot Noir-driven wines.
Lily Bollinger, who led the house from 1941 to 1971, became a legend in Champagne.
Famous for her dedication, she expanded the vineyards and protected Bollinger’s style.
She famously said she drank Champagne “when I’m happy and when I’m sad.”
Bollinger is still renowned for its powerful Special Cuvée and vintage R.D. Champagnes.
Their cellars hold reserves aged in magnums for depth and consistency.
Bollinger is also James Bond’s favourite Champagne, appearing in many 007 films.
The house remains family-owned and fiercely independent today.
