2016 Marchesi Antinori Donna Cora Satèn Franciacorta Italy
2016 Marchesi Antinori Donna Cora Satèn Franciacorta Italy
GW says: The Antinori family, custodians of winemaking for over 600 years, expanded from Tuscan reds to Franciacorta’s refined bubbles. Their Donna Cora Satèn celebrates finesse and the softer expression of Chardonnay in this prized sparkling region.
Grapes: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir
Appearance: Soft pale gold in the glass, crowned with an elegant, silky perlage.
Aroma: Delicate aromas of acacia blossom, white peach and toasted hazelnut drift from the glass. Hints of lemon curd and pastry cream add depth to the bouquet.
Palate: The palate is supple and caressing, with a creamy mousse true to Satèn’s gentle style. Flavours of ripe pear, almond and subtle vanilla linger gracefully.
Balanced acidity keeps it fresh, while a fine mineral line gives structure.
A lingering finish whispers of citrus zest and freshly baked brioche.
