2014 Champagne Louis Roederer Cristal Rosé France
2014 Champagne Louis Roederer Cristal Rosé France
GW says: Cristal Rosé is produced using the saignée (bleeding) process after cold maceration. The Cristal Rosé cuvée is aged, on average, for 6 years in Louis Roederer’s cellars. The attack reveals an aromatic intensity with a remarkable fullness and the smooth, sweet flavours of white flowers, red fruits, caramel, and Tarte Tatin.
Grapes: 55% Pinot Noir, 45% Chardonnay
Appearance: Pink with coppery reflections.
Aroma: A dazzling bouquet of ripe fruit: zesty red berries (red currants, raspberries, blackcurrants) and raspberry liqueur with smoky, spicy notes of undergrowth.
Palate: A whirlwind of flavours (redcurrants, raspberries) that burst, delicately and gradually, like salty bubbles on the palate. The saline, iodine impression combines with the smoky notes and acidity to create umami and an infinitely flavoursome finish.
