2019/2020 Jermann Capo Martino Venezia Giulia IGT Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy
GW says: Jermann Capo Martino is a prestigious white wine from the renowned Jermann winery in Friuli Venezia Giulia, north-eastern Italy. It is a field blend of native grape varieties, made in the traditional style of the Collio region and named after the Capo Martino hill, where the Jermann family bought a vineyard in 1991.
Grapes: Primarily Friulano, with Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia Istriana, and Picolit – all estate-grown and co-fermented, true to the old Collio tradition.
Appearance: Rich golden yellow with green flecks; a touch of haze reflects minimal intervention and unfiltered depth.
Aroma: Complex and layered—notes of ripe stone fruit (apricot, peach), citrus peel, dried wildflowers, toasted almonds, hay, and a gentle hint of beeswax and honey.
Palate: Textured, elegant and long. Creamy mid-palate with notes of pear skin, chamomile, subtle spice and a refined mineral backbone. Finishes with mouthwatering salinity and soft herbal nuances.
