2012 Champagne Drappier Grande Sendrée France
GW says: This is Drappiers flagship wine and will age for years to come. Grande Sendrée is names after numerous plots of land on the famed Kimmeridgian chalk - the same chalk formation that houses Chablis at its conclusion. A fire ravaged the area of Urville (NW France) in 1836. Due to a municipal admin mistake, the area known as Cendree (cinders) changed to Sendree. Here an event caused history in a bottle.
Grapes: 55% Pinot Noir, 45% Chardonnay
Appearance: Pale yellow
Aroma: Touches of honey and marzipan. apple compote, pastry and some floral notes. Quince jelly meets raspberry jam meets buttery croissant.
Palate: On the palate it is fresh vanilla with flower notes.
