Blanc de Noirs is where Champagne shows its darker side — not in colour, but in character. EPC leans into this beautifully, delivering a wine that balances richness, texture and energy with a distinctly modern edge. This is Champagne with a little more swishing of the hips.

Appearance

Pale gold with a subtle bronze tint, hinting at its black grape origins. The mousse is fine and persistent, rising in delicate streams that give the wine both elegance and intent.

Aroma

Immediately more generous on the nose than its Blanc de Blancs sibling. Ripe orchard fruits — baked apple, yellow plum and pear — are layered with red berry nuances, think wild strawberry and a touch of raspberry skin. There’s a deeper register here too: toasted brioche, roasted nuts and a gentle hint of spice, with a faint savoury edge that adds intrigue.

Palate

Broader, rounder and more textured. The palate opens with ripe apple and stone fruit, quickly joined by hints of red cherry and a touch of blood orange. The mousse is creamy, giving weight and presence, while a line of fresh acidity keeps everything lifted. Mid-palate richness from lees ageing brings pastry and nutty complexity, before a lightly spiced, faintly savoury finish draws the wine out with balance and control. This is about texture as much as flavour — generous, yet precise.

Food Pairing

A Blanc de Noirs built for the table — it can handle richer, more flavour-driven dishes with ease:

  • Roast chicken with truffle or wild mushrooms
  • Duck breast with cherry or plum glaze
  • Pork belly with apple and fennel
  • Seared tuna or salmon with sesame crust
  • Comté, Gruyère or aged hard cheeses
  • Mushroom tart or lentil-based dishes

Serve lightly chilled — not overly cold — to allow the texture and aromatic depth to fully express themselves.

Interesting Fact

Unlike many traditional Champagne blends, EPC’s approach focuses on single-village expression, meaning this Blanc de Noirs is designed to reflect one specific place rather than a house style. It’s a shift away from consistency and towards character — a more Burgundian way of thinking in a region built on blending.
