These prices are offered due to the highly competitive positioning of the wines and represent exceptional value within the range. However, flexibility remains for larger purchases, and orders can still be placed as a mixed selection of 12 bottles or more.

Single Vineyard Series

The
Sandridge Barton (formerly Sharpham) East Field Pinot Blanc 2022 is a bold, experimental addition to their single-vineyard range. Sourced exclusively from the East Field vineyard in Devon, this wine is naturally fermented and matured for 22 months in old French oak—including some time under a layer of flor (see below ) — creating a more oxidative, complex style than your typical English white. A new discovery !

  • Appearance
Golden hue. Because of that extended 22-month barrel ageing and time under flor, it has a deeper, more viscous intensity than most English Pinot Blancs. It looks as serious as it tastes.
  • Aroma
This is where the "magic" happens. It’s a riot of bruised apple, lemon pith, and warm bread crust. There’s a distinctive nutty, savoury edge from the oak and flor that makes it "stop you in your tracks"—it’s not your average "fruit juice" wine! Why not try something different.
  • Palate
Layered, textured, and incredibly long. You get a real hit of red apple and cinnamon spice dancing with a salty, mineral line that keeps everything fresh. It’s got a savoury weight and a "mouth-filling" richness that shows exactly what Devon fruit can do when it’s treated with this much care. This is English wine breaking boundaries.

Food Pairing Suggestions
The Grape Wizard loves a wine that can handle a bit of culinary weight:
  • The "Wizard" Choice: Roast chicken or even your full Sunday dinner—the oak-aged structure and spice notes are a perfect match.
  • Seafood: Richer dishes like smoked haddock risotto, scallops with chorizo, or crab cakes with aioli.
  • Creamy Classics: Veal blanquette or any dish with a creamy mushroom sauce to play off the wine's textured finish.
  • Cheese: A chunk of aged Comté or a ripe Camembert.
GW Verdict: A total discovery! It’s a "grown-up" wine that takes the humble Pinot Blanc and gives it some serious attitude. The oxidative notes won’t be for everyone, but if you want a wine with "soul" and a bit of Devon maritime saltiness, this is a bucket-list bottle. The wine needs wholesome foods.

GW Info : Flor is a, specifically, a thin, white, waxy film of  yeast that grows on the surface of certain wines (like sherry) during, particularly, the aging process.

It protects the wine from oxygen to prevent browning, while adding flavors such as nuts and apples, and is essential for making Dry sherry like Fino or Manzanilla
