These prices are offered due to the highly competitive positioning of the wines and represent exceptional value within the range. They are available strictly on a case basis—either as 6 bottles of sparkling wine or 12 bottles of still wine — from Sandridge Barton. However, flexibility remains for larger purchases, and orders can still be placed as a mixed selection of 12 bottles or more.

The
Sharpham Blanc de Blancs 2020 (now officially under the Sandridge Barton label) is a sophisticated English sparkling wine that represents the pinnacle of Chardonnay from their South Devon estate. Aged for 28 months on the lees, this traditional method fizz showcases the character of a particularly warm vintage. Its a great start to a fabulous bottle !

  • Appearance
Pop the cork and watch a super fine, persistent mousse dance in the glass. It’s a beautiful light golden hue with bright clarity—exactly what you want to see when you're looking for elegance in a bottle.
  • Aroma
This one is all about the orchard floor and citrus groves. On the nose, expect a burst of green apple and lemon zest followed by more indulgent notes of toasted brioche and freshly baked bread from time on the lees (see below) . There’s a subtle chalky minerality here too that keeps things very "grown-up".
  • Palate
Dangerously delicious! It hits you with a fresh, linear acidity and a soft, creamy mousse. The fruit profile echoes the nose with crisp apple and citrus, but there’s a lovely savoury depth and nutty complexity underneath. It finishes clean, dry, and with a refreshing saline "briny" note.

Food Pairing Suggestions
The Grape Wizard loves a wine that can handle a bit of "gastronomic magic". This Blanc de Blancs is perfect for:
  • Seafood Classics: Freshly shucked oysters, scallop crudo, or grilled langoustines.
  • The "Wizard" Choice: Try it with Fish and Chips—the high acidity slices right through that batter and salt like a dream.
  • Nibbles & Cheese: Tempura vegetables or shavings of aged Parmigiano Reggiano.
  • Light Mains: A delicate prawn risotto or a lemon butter sole.
GW Verdict: A surprising experience for this Devon sparkler. It’s got all the elegance and "sexy bubbles" you’d expect from a top-tier Blanc de Blancs but with a distinct English orchard personality. If you're looking for a discovery that stops you in your tracks, this is it.

GW INFO :  Lees are the dead yeast cells and grape residues (skins/seeds) that remain after wine fermentation, often utilized to enhance flavor, texture, and aroma.

Leaving these particles in contact with the wine—known as sur lie aging—adds creamy, nutty, or bread-like notes and improves mouthfeel
