2020 Petrács Dry Furmint
2020 Petrács Dry Furmint
A single-vineyard expression from Tokaj, Petrács showcases Furmint with greater depth, structure and mineral intensity, reflecting its historic site and volcanic soils.
Appearance
Bright pale gold with shimmering green highlights. Brilliant clarity with slow, defined tears suggesting concentration and gentle oak influence.
Aroma
Expressive yet refined. Aromas of ripe pear, golden apple and quince unfold alongside white peach and preserved lemon. Subtle layers of acacia blossom and chamomile add lift, while volcanic minerality brings notes of flint and wet stone. Fine oak integration contributes hints of toasted hazelnut, vanilla pod and a whisper of spice.
Palate
Dry, powerful and structured. A firm line of vibrant acidity drives flavours of orchard fruit, citrus peel and nectarine. The texture is broader and more layered than Mandolás, with a gentle creaminess balanced by phenolic grip. Mineral tension builds through the mid-palate, leading to a long, saline finish accented by almond and light toast. Ageing potential is evident in its precision and depth.
Food Pairing
A versatile, gastronomic white that pairs beautifully with:
-
Butter-poached lobster
-
Turbot or halibut with beurre blanc
-
Roast guinea fowl or herb-stuffed chicken
-
Veal escalopes with lemon and capers
-
Mushroom risotto with aged Parmesan
Its structure and acidity allow it to complement both refined seafood and richer white meat dishes, while the mineral backbone keeps the finish clean and lifted.
A serious, terroir-driven Furmint — layered, mineral and built for the table.
