Champagne Drappier, Brut Premier Cru NV, France
GW says:
"Drappier is one of those lesser-known producers, sitting under the radar of the heavily marketed and more well known houses - such as Veuve, Moet and Laurent Perrier. Not so well known, but excellent quality production. This house brings over 200 years of expertise and traditions. Consciously involved with sustainability and producing carbon-neutral champagne. Bright and refined, this Premier Cru Champagne opens with aromas of crisp green apple, white peach, and toasted brioche, layered with hints of citrus zest and subtle almond. On the palate, it’s dry and elegant, with a fine mousse and vibrant acidity. A beautifully balanced, food-friendly Champagne with finesse and structure."
Varietals: 60% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Meunier. Grapes only from Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards.
Appearance: Golden
Aroma: Crisp green apple, hazelnut and delicate toasty spice on the nose.
Palate: Dry and elegant with a creamy mousse, and vibrant acidity that lifts flavors of dried and ripe fruit, lemon curd, and a touch of chalky minerality. The finish is clean and lingering, with a gentle creaminess and a whisper of spice.
